Baby Time!

I don't even know where to start! So much has happened and I've been horrible about recording any of it! Well, I guess ill start with this, and it's going to be kind of scatter-brained:

Pregnant!
In early January Walker and I found out that we are expecting our first baby! When we found out, of course we were happy and excited, but it was hard to wrap our minds around it. In December we thought I was pregnant, and since I had to go to the OB/GYN anyway, I just took a test there at the clinic. However, it came back negative. A couple of weeks later, I had been having some funny symptoms to make us both think maybe this time I really was pregnant (the biggest symptom being a weird and then missed period). So we went to the store, grabbed a couple of pregnancy tests and went home. I didn't actually take the tests until a couple of days later. I think I didn't want to see the result if it was negative. But it wasn't! I took two, and almost immediately both of them showed positive! A week later we went back in to the doctors, took a test, and it was confirmed! They even said I must have been pregnant the first time I came in, and for some reason the test just came back negative.

Early Symptoms
I really haven't had any symptoms too bad. For the first four months I had morning sickness and threw up a few times. My body was aching in ways i never knew it could. It's funny because as we were coming out of the doctors office after we found out that we really were expecting, Walker says (about the book they gave us on pregnancy) "I'm going to read this before I go to bed tonight." lol I said "Uh, Walker I'M the one who's pregnant and needs to read that." And he just said "You can read it after me." ....lol This guy cracks me up. So now he knows everything about being pregnant. Well, he thinks so. I wake up in the middle of the night a lot now and the first time and he asked me what was wrong and I said "my hips are killing me!" and he said "Here's a pillow, put it between your knees. That should make it better." lol I just love him so much. The first time we heard the heart beat, both Walker and I had a surreal and emotional moment. I started feeling the baby moving around the 18th week, but didn't always recognize it. About a month ago, I was worried about the baby because I thought I hadn't felt anything at all. After I got off work we went to Immediate Care to see if there was anyone available just to listen to our babies heart beat and calm our nerves. Well, they didn't have the necessary equipment and sent us to the ER... Yeah, I know. I felt so ridiculous in there! I just wanted to hear babies heart beat! They brought us to this huge room and had me lay on the bed. When the nurse came in, she couldn't find the heart beat right away. She told us she had to go get a newer machine since she couldn't hear anything. It scared Walker and I to death. I couldn't hold back the tears. Luckily, however, it didn't take her long to find the heart beat when she came back. And what a relief! Now at 6 months and 4 days, it feels like the baby is doing some serious martial arts sometimes. lol DEFINITELY Walker's baby. lol

We're Having a Boy!
May 15 we went in and had THE ultrasound to find our whether our little one was a boy or a girl. Guess what?! We're having a BOY!! Walker even requested a picture of our little one the clearly shows we're having a boy as proof. lol We are both so happy. I feel like now I can start day dreaming about all this little boy stuff and what I would buy (if we had the money). I would say we knew, but you can't really know until the ultrasound. But whenever we talked about the baby, it just felt so natural to say "he". Both of our families kind of knew too. When we told Walker's mom we're having a boy, she said "Yeah, I know." lol I've already said it, but we're just so happy and everything feels just RIGHT.

Doesn't he already look like Walker?

OK! Now that I've finished that novel.. lol What else is there.. We moved! Well, we're still in Corvallis but we moved off campus (and thank goodness)! Our neighbors smoked marijuana all the time and we shared a vent with them, so our place always smelled so strong, except our bedroom (which is where i stayed 95% of the time I was home). PLUS our other neighbors had cockroaches and guess who else was blessed with them? Yup. It's just so nice to be off campus. Also, we're in a bigger place and our rent is cheaper. AND all of our neighbors have kids, so I wont be worried about annoying anyone with the babies crying. But really.. I don't think i'll give a rats tail.. lol So I think that's all for now! And the plan is to start blogging a lot more often, like at least once week. (Crossing my fingers!) Btw, if someone were to read my journal, this post is pretty much how it sounds. lol

Big Things Happening!

First off, let's start with the republican nominee's for this year's coming election... I'll be honest.. I didn't pay much attention at first, but now that it's pretty much Romney and Gingrich, i've been more and more interested. Also, i've been listening to alot of talk radio (i'm old, i know) lately, and all you'll hear is them arguing about who would be better to up against Obama. I'm not really into debating about politics so i wont say much, except that based on what i've read and heard, I think Romney would do a better job at putting this county on the track we want rather than Obama or Gingrich.

I wasn't around when he was president, but I wish he was still here to give his opinion on how to get us out of this hole we're in!
On a different note, Walker and I are preparing to move. Where? We don't know yet. Well, we're staying in Corvallis. Walker's still working on getting his masters done so we'll be here for at least another couple of years. But I think we're going to look for a house! Obviously this idea of moving hasn't gone very far! But we do know it's just not worth the rent we're paying to live in a cramped space. Plus my dad let us know that the price we're paying for rent would be enough to live in a house! I really don't mind that.. At all. Especially since Walker's brother has been staying with us, and i just thinking living in a bigger place would be more comfortable for everyone! So! Here's to future and moving forward! (There will be more big new later, but that will be it's very own post.:] )

On a completely different note, here's some food for thought:

And here's something funny:
I'll probably read this in the future and  wonder why i thought it was funny. lol
So that's it for now. There will be more to come.. Much more. :) Alright! Later gators!

This is it!

So i want to finally start this blog, but i feel like I can't really do that until i give a brief history of Walker and I. I would, and could write a full novel from just the past 3 years that Walker and I have been together, and then some.. Buuut there's not enough time right now for that. So, i'm going to make this as short and sweet as possible. I'm not so good at 'short', so we'll see how this goes!

That's Walker on the left as Hawaii's defensive player next to Jeremy Perry who was offensive player of the year. Both Seniors from Kahuku.

Let's start with Walker Cook Vave. First off, he's the bomb! He was born April 14, 1985 in Kahuku, Hawaii. He's the oldest of five and has two wonderful parents by the name of Sitiveni and Mele Vave. He grew up in the North Shore area of Oahu, around Laie. Laie is hugely populated with LDS folk and Kahuku's High School football is the 2nd most important religion there. I almost forgot! Walker is full Tongan, most of his friends growing up were polynesian, and the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) is in Laie, right next to Brigham Young University-Hawaii. Alot of the high school students, including Walker, have worked at  PCC at one point in their young adult lives. So keeping all this in mind, you can imagine the type of person Walker might be. He's wonderful! He's so laid back and always happy and hardworking. He loves his family and puts others before himself! There are not enough words! But I should just focus on the task at hand and save this for Valentine's Day..lol Walker graduated in 2004 and soon turned 19. He was call to serve a 2 year mission in Guayaquil, Ecuador. From the pictures he has shown me and the stories he's shared, i can tell he really loved his mission and the people he served. When he was released, he came to Oregon State University to play football for the Beavers as a middle linebacker. He continued (and continues) to be a missionary. Everyone that knows him, loves him!

This is my family and our home in Blodgett! You can probably guess that i'm the one not looking at the camera. lol

So my full name is Anna Marita Larson (now Vave :) ). I was born on July 18, 1989 in Corvallis, Oregon. I was raised in Blodgett and Philomath, neighboring Corvallis. Philomath is a small logging town. And that's about it.... lol I am the 2nd to youngest of 4 kids. I have two older brothers and 1 younger sister. We grew up with our mom teaching us about Finland (she's Finnish and moved to the U.S. in 1983) and music and our dad teaching us about the outdoors. In school, i played a little bit of volleyball and basketball and was on the swim team in highschool. I also play the flute and was in our school band. I graduated in 2007 and went to school at Linn-Benton Community College. I am currently a nanny for a spunky 2 year old little girl by the name of Meghan. I still need to finish school.. But that's another story!

Walks and I at our YSA ward's Holiday Dinner.

So! How did Walker and I meet?? The versions vary, but mine goes something like this: My friend had a pretty big crush on him. Often i would hear "Walker this and Walker that" about different things. I was young and didn't pay him much attention, plus my friend had already called dibs. I don't quite remember how, but we started talking on Facebook. Walker reminded me once that when i was the Activities Chair at our YSA ward, that he had come up to me for the first time and had given me a few suggestions for ward activities. I guess he added me on Facebook (yeah, he added me lol) and that's where our relationship started! Romantic, huh? lol (I can tell this blog entry isn't going to be very short, but hopefully it'll makeup for it by being sweet! lol) So we had been communicating back and forth quite a bit. I remember there was a multi-stake YSA dance at the Corvallis Stake Center. The whole night I was dancing with my friends and he with his, all the while i was keeping my eye on him. The dance was almost over and i was getting kinda depressed cause he hadn't ask me dance even once! The MC announced the last song and that there would be a prayer after. Right as the song was starting I see Walker headed out the gym door with his coat, ready to go home. I keep on dancing with my friends all of a sudden, who comes up behind me but Walker Cook Vave! lol He asks me to dance and while we're dancing I can tell he's pretty nervous (he would probably tell you otherwise). He asks me what i'm doing Friday night and I guess i said nothing! Even though, now that i think of it, i think our date was on a Saturday.. Oh well! We actually ended up double-dating just a couple days before on Thursday with one of his buddies who was also going on a first date and i think was kinda nervous, so he asked Walker to double with him to lighten the mood. So really, our first date was bowling on Thursday, and then on Saturday (or Friday, who knows!) we carved pumpkins, he gave me a tour of the OSU stadium and locker room (no body was in there, don't worry!) and i think we watched a movie and ended the night with a trip to Mcy D's! lol We continued to talk and date and made it official on November 4 2008! Yay!

My talented bro and sis in-law took our engagement pics. They were taken in the same rose garden where Walker propose.

So there is alot more that happened up until our engagment, but i'll just get to the nitty gritty. Walker knew i liked flowers, and he wanted to propose on a date that was significant. So, the day before my birthday, July 17, 2010 Walker took me to the rose gardens in Avery Park in Corvallis. I most definitely had a clue that something was going on because he had been acting kind of sneaky, and when i talked to him on the phone, he said "Wear something nice." I asked him "why can't i just wear sweats, or something comfy?" He said "No! You've got to wear something nice!" Almost like he thought i was trying to sabotage his plans. lol We went to the gardens and walked around. He was SO nervous! Finally i suggest that we go sit down somewhere. He asks if i would like my brithday gift early. He tells me to close my eyes. When i open them, there he is on bended knee with a ring in his hand. He asks me to marry him, and what do i do? I bury my face in my hands and start sobbing! lol But not in the way that he thought! He kept asking me "Well.. Will you?" Later he told me that he thought i was crying because I was going to say no. Even though i was half expecting what was coming, i couldn't contain my emotions and errrrrthing came out.. Poor guy.. lol afterwards, we headed to the car, not really sure what to think. We were engaged now! But it didn't really feel all that different.. My brother said they were going to have a small birthday gathering for my birthday at his place. Bless his heart, he can't hide those kind of things very well. So Walker and I drove to the house that Erik (my bro) shared with a few other guys that were away for summer vacay. We pull up and there are more than just a few cars. Walker, along with Sofie (my younger sis) and Erik, had planned a suprise birthday/ engagement party! After the party, Walker and I headed over to my parents to share the story of how it happened! Walker left the next day for Hawaii where he shared the news with his parents and family.

Our beautiful wedding in Hawaii. <3

So like any newly engaged couple, we did nothing. lol Well, we had finally set the date for the following July in Hawaii. About 6 months before the wedding, we started getting things together and figuring out plans. Walker's family and friends planned most of the wedding, and for that, we are eternally grateful! Honestly, we only set the date with the temple, picked the colors, organized our dances, got our own attire and payed for our tickets. The rest was basically his family! Even my family who had expected to start helping as soon as they got of the plane were told to kick back and relax! The trip was an unforgettable one for them. (There is SO much that i am missing and not talking about, but i don't think i have much more time.. I think one day i'll try to gather all of the memories from our wedding, for right now, i'll just say this:) On July 23, 2011 in the Laie, Hawaii temple, Walker and i were eternally sealed to one another. I will never forget how beautiful it was in that sealing room surrounded by our closest family and friends. I'll never forget how heavenly it looked in that beautiful room and i'll never forget the face of our sealer, brother Vanisi. He may not even remember us, but he will always be in my heart. I remember him telling us that a marriage is not between two people, but three. There is the man, the woman, and God. Later on I realize that the ring Walker had given me has three diamonds on it with the middle one as the biggest. Every time I look at my beautiful ring I am reminded of the beautiful wisdom he gave us.

Well! There it is for the most part! Like I said, there are so many things that i missed but i'll just have to record all of the rest in my journal! I think that's all for tonight! Chao!

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Yeah, yeah, i'm not good at blogging. I've had good intentions, but actually sticking to them is a different story. I have not been good about writing in my journal.. at all!! During this whole time that Walker and i have been together (going on three years this fall) i've written in my journal.. twice, maybe three times but doubtful. And i'm so sad about it! So much has happened and changed and i haven't made any record of any of it! I partly justified it by telling myself (earlier in our relationship) that if anything happened (like if we broke up), i wouldn't want any record of it anywhere, but that just doesn't make sense! There is a reason that prophets and apostles have told us to write down our thoughts, feelings, acheivments, etc! I wish i had been good about writing in my journal so i could go back and look at how much we've grown and how much has changed! That is partly why i started a blog. For some reason, blogging seems like it would be more fun and easier for me to actually occomplish on a regular basis. And! I am probably the last person in the world to find this out, but I recently found out that you can actually get a HARD COPY of your blog! Like a book! A blog book! I was just going to start a blog because it sounded fun, but when i found that out it gave me even more of a reason to want to become an avide blogger! Although, i know it would be a good idea to still keep a personal journal, because, well, you cant spill all your guts on a blog that is read by people you regularly come in contact with. :) Oh, and here's this:

"...Begin today and write in it your goings and comings, your deepest thoughts, your achievements and your failures, your associations and your triumphs, your impressions and your testimonies. I promise you that if you will keep your journals and records, they will indeed be a source of great inspiration to you, each other, your children, your grand-children, and others throughout the generations."

--President Spencer W. Kimball.

So there is it. I hope i'll soon get to regularly blogging, but first i'm going to get this 'getting married' crossed off. By the way, I love Walker Cook Vave. I'm so excited to spend eternity with my very best friend. Counting down to eternity. 17 days. :) Here we go!

Happy Wednesday!!

It's so wonderful...

Lately, i've been really inspired to bake and cook and do crafty, homemaking type things. That's why when I found this blog, i just about died. It's perfect! It's exactly what i've been looking for! And better yet, it's two LDS mothers that keep it. Apparently they've won awards at Better Homes and Gardens and made Ice Cream Sundaes with Kelly Rippa. It's just something i wanted to pass on!

Hum dee dummmmmmm...

Well.. I haven't got a whole lot to do right now.. Once again i'm waiting for Walker while he is in a meeting.. I'm here at the OSU library just killing time.. What should i talk about? Oh! My car broke down! The other day i was with little Miss Megs and we were driving on campus after having dropped Walker off. We were coming up to an intersection and my motor stops.. Completly.. So i'm sitting at and intersection with a dead car and a baby in the back seat. (Sounds like a song.. Jesus take the Wheel..lol I wish he would have.) Not to mention it was about lunch time and everyone and there mom was out and about, so there was quite a bit of traffic. The thing that suprised me was while i was trying to start my car (and it was totally obvious it wasn't going to start anytime soon) nooo ooonnee came to help or ask if we were alright or anything! And then I was getting dirty looks like i was purposfully sitting there waiting to pick up someone or something.. Seriously, why wouldn't anyone help us!?! I did lose a little faith in humanity.. I called my mom and she told me to call my dad, so i did. I was trying to fight back tears while explaining to him what happened. He asked me "Did you run out of gas??" Ooops.. My gas was low, but i didn't think it was THAT low.. I told him that could be it.. So Megan and I waited there, in the middle of the intersection, juuusst hanging out.. By the way, incase you're wondering, there wasn't any place for us to push the car. The best i could do was to move it as much to the side as possible. After about ten minutes a nice lady did come and ask us if we were broke down but i explained that my dad was on his way to rescue us.. When i saw my dads big blue truck driving up Monroe towards us, it was literaly like the sound of his deisel engine was.. music or something. So he chained us up to the back of his truck and towed us to the gas station to fill up with gas...... Not the problem... My car still wouldn't start! So.. Megs got a ride in my dads truck while he towed me and Honda behind all the way back to our house.. A couple days later (this morning) he found out that it was one of the coils?? No clue.. But I've come to realize even more how grateful i am to have a dad who knows how to do stuff and fix stuff! Sooo, that story was pretty long and not that interesting with not that much of a moral to it.. But there it is. I feeling like talking about wedding stuff, but i think i'll save all of that for it's very own post.. Until next time! :)

Let's see how this goes....

So i'm starting this blogging adventure and i'm excited!! Although, we'll see how it goes. I still need ideas for what to title it. I'm still figuring out all the layout stuff and how to work everything. Right now, i'm at the institute here in Corvallis with Molly. We're watching Walker teach the Le Musu Fijian dance to the Elders and some of the Elders Quorum. It's hiliarious... lol We feel like a peanut gallery. We are also helping ourselves to some tasty sweets that were left on Molly's lap for leding her truck to some newly weds in our ward. After this Walker and i planning on watching the hilarious movie Heavy Weights. Well anyways, i'm going to go and figure more about this blogging business. :)
